Elaine Robbins, 87,
of Scottsdale died March 5 after a valiant two-year battle with
cancer. A native of Chicago, she and her
husband, Sam, who survives her moved to the Valley in 1991. A Life Master, Elaine was a much adored
player who frequented Doty Bridge Club,
“She loved bridge players and she loved the game,” said Sam. In addition to her husband, she is also
survived by two sons, a daughter and two grandchildren.
Lucille Protz, 66, a well-liked Phoenix player, died Jan. 10
after a long illness. A Life Master,
Lucy played in several east side clubs and had many friends. A native of Buffalo, N.Y., she received a
degree in chemistry from the University of Buffalo and worked for many years at
Dow Chemical in Midland, Mich. and Freeport, Tex. A widow, she moved to the
Valley in 1980. She is survived by a
sister.
